Notes

Lilium (commonly known as true lilies) is a comparatively small genus of plants consisting of about 100 species. Lilies are mainly distributed in temperate zones, however some species occur in subtropics. All species have large, bright flowers and so are important for ornamental purposes. There are ca 40 lilies in East Asia and only 12 of them occur in Russian Far East. Lilium distichum is one of the most common species in Primorsky Krai of Russia where I live. A lot of blooming plants might be seen right now in broadleaf forests over here. Except for south of Russian Far East, this species also occurs in China (Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning Provinces) as well as Korean Peninsula.
